The crackers burst in the sky lighting up the night in a million colours. Her life looked the same as she dived and finally saw red. The sidewalk embraced her wholeheartedly seeing her last New Year blast.

The Music In Me
I saw him happy then I saw him fall ; now I wait and watch him grow ~~~
There is fire in his eyes. Dexterity in his fingers. But this stands out, the expressions from his music. His music. His very own. I'd give anything to be that good but without passion or talent, technical advancement in music is a waste as far as I am concerned.
So much passion. So much heat. I couldn't even think.
I wasn't hearing the music.
That brash sound claiming confidence yet listening I think I hear something else.
Freedom, doubts, willingness.... Happiness.
Was that same in him? ~~~
What will they think? Will this be okay? But I said so and now I have to. Well let's do it then...
This this and that yes come yes go no higher no be soft yes no croon plead yes yes brave be brave yes brave free so free...
It's over.
- Which level are you at? Have you completed any music examinations?
- No, but you see I... I... No, I haven't.
- Thank you. Next?
What was that about? It's music whether I have learnt before or not and no matter what exam! He is unfair. Hasn't he been always to me? No, no, I must not think like that. He is a good musician himself I suppose. He will see I hope...
- Jacob!!! That was so AMAZING!!
- Haha, thank you... But that was really nothing. Believe me.
- No dude, that was awesome. YOU believe ME. You're so going to win this thing.
- I hope and God willing, maybe if I am deserving.
- You are DEFINITELY deserving.
- Haha that is kind of you to say. Thank you.
- Always so formal?
- Che! I am not formal.
- Of course you are not.
The rolling eyes, the demeanor, the positive attitude of these people... Does this mean I can? Ok, I know I can... But this means so much to me... To be recognized would be... Well. Plenty of time yet. This might only be a beginning.

Winter Heat (4)
Sunday, 22 December 2013
Winter Heat (3)
Winter Heat (2)
A deserted alley. Wonderful.
Winter Heat (1)
She told Him, "No. I don't want this over-possessiveness and over-protectiveness. I haven't done anything to warrant that I can't take care of myself."
He replied, "I'm sorry. Take me back. I won't do it again. But please stay. Stay with me. Stay."
The desperate sound of His voice jolted her, scared her, "I will come back to you. You need to trust me to come back to you. Else there isn't going to be anymore of this. I won't be caged" by love. The last two words were unspoken.
"I trust you. I trust you. But not him. Please not with him."
"I can take care of myself."
"You can't say that! How will you be sure?!"
"No more of this. I'm leaving. Bye."
"Wait - "
She hung up and cut His call. Now the moment she had been dreading yet wanting - the moment to leave. Anamika came to terms with herself.
She left ~~~
"Are you cold?!", he asked her over the wind rushing past their ears. She left ample space between them on the bike's seat such that they did not touch. "No!", she called out. He suddenly sped up making her momentarily lurch forward. But she clung fiercely to the back of the bike and did not bump against him.
Was this right? Going with a man she had just met some weeks back on a midnight journey alone? Not to mention on his bike on a rainy winter night. If he decided to hurt her, she would be helpless against his well-built, athletic frame. She was the responsible one. Anyone else in her situation, she herself would have called a fool. She would have made sarcastic remarks on how naïve girls these days could be. But she wasn't a girl anymore. She had crossed the transition and she wasn't much behind in years to this man in front of her. Maybe 2 or maximum 3. She was a woman and she would handle herself with dignity and poise. If she had put herself in this situation, she would see that she saw herself safely out... No matter how dangerous they claimed him to be.
The bike slowed down and stopped ~~~

Is This...
Is this the only thing you know?
To give and say it's for you
And reclaim with the stamp that it's yours?
Is this the only thing you know?
To give hope and keep making promises
Which you are never sure of, never keep?
Is this the only thing I know of?
Your promises, evasions and disappearances
Along with an empty shell of a home -
Something which I wish I never knew.

They Say
Against what they say,
Fantasies in your head
Never are true dreams, they say -
But what do you know?
And how do you know?
If truth be told :
Is reality is as real as you know?

Sleep
It won't hurt when you sleep
When dreams weave stories for you to keep,
It won't hurt when you sleep
That no one needs you, no one for you will weep,
That you never matter unless pride is at stake,
That you never matter unless you can do what they say,
It won't hurt when you sleep,
Little one, I wish your dreams weren't just dreams.

Running to Darkness
Short breaths,
Quick breaths,
A glance each way,
Breaking out in a run,
Then quick reduction to strides,
Escape mere inches away,
A brown door, a black gate,
Pandora's box in oneself
Unleashed, taunts one to run away
Into the darkness inside,
To the voices in one's head
Which whispers freedom,
Price to be paid in blood.
Home.
Darkness surrounds her -
She can not fight.
Weeks to go -
She slowly dies.
Unchained yet chained,
Loneliness sinks in,
Depression strikes hard,
At the girl within.
She screams and screams,
Cries then moans,
For the new place she found
Which is now to her -
Home.
25 Days More in Death
Tormenting glassy confines,
Sucked into a vortex of time -
Month of merry making, no.
Month of tears told,
You spent time in fantasy
But you were never far away,
Yet you chose to forget reality :
The chill on a summer's day;
How dare you try forget
The roots from where you were born?
Roots that will now strangle you
For daring to get torn
Apart from the green fields and blue sky,
Fast tongues in gentle hearts,
Clean air and calm breeze -
What some love to call home
Yet you call it disease;
A cancer you try to rid,
A cancer which will not give in,
A cancer that you did
Because you are the one who sinned -
Against the mother,
Against the father,
The brother and the grandmother,
Sisters, uncles and aunts,
More family untold up in arms
Ready to mow you down
For you're the black sheep in that crowd,
The weed that must be pruned,
A good seed turned bad, they muse.
Yet you, lone flower, tried to defend
What is yours and who are you in sense,
To finally give up and give in
To everything that left her dead inside skin.
25 days more to life.
The Lone Souls
Eyes of the world watched
As the two lone souls walked,
And finally stood
Between some undergrowth in a wood,
Touching forehead and toe,
Hands clasped - not wanting to let go,
Skin touching with lips inches away,
Breath escape as they softly say,
Few words of love and close the final space
And give in to desire and fully embrace,
Not ones to sin but love they may,
As eyes of the world watch as them going their way.

The First Time
There is nothing more beautiful
Than that smile on your face
Which speaks a million words
With one glance my way;
Dark lashes close
As my lips brush the lids,
Warm hands hold me close
As my hands reach the mid;
Shivering at the first touch,
Us skin to skin,
Your hands caress me slowly,
Gently as you find the way in;
Moving with the rhythm
Of the song only we sing,
Everything given and shared,
This life, my lover and I will begin.

Blossoms
There is this place in town
Where in shade, we spread around,
Laughter, more jokes and talks ;
Friends in sweet harmony.
Now I'll bring you here,
Share my new world with you,
Because you are my love -
The one I hold close and true.
There are no more secrets,
Nothing left to hide ;
What was sown three years ago
Has now flowered, a blossom bright.

ANAMIKA: One Last Note
Fake smiles won't hide the tears in your eyes,
And farewell doesn't mean it was all lies.
Be safe.
ANAMIKA : A Piece
He cares.
It's evident on his face, in his eyes.
Yet my face, it is holding regret.
No more Mark. I can't hold on to this anymore. I need a break, I need a change. I need to find who I am without you.
Mark. My love. So far apart now in our hearts that we can't even understand the other person. Ego where we swore there wouldn't be. The differences we loved now forming a wall between us.
Is this a midlife crisis? Anamika. Please. Stay.
I'm going Mark. I'll be back. You don't have to wait. That's all I'm saying. No being tied down.
I want to wait. I want us to still go on. Anamika. No. Don't walk out.
You're high Mark. Even after all your promises.
It happened because of you! You left and upset me! I didn't know where to turn to!
Because of me? Oh wonderful. So you know where to go now. Bye Mark.
Anamika, no!
Slam.
The door is closed. One boring life which used to be the centre of my mental gravity lost. Do I regret it? I needed a change. But...
That is not the real question. Do I love him? What is love? Does it make sense if we are such opposites?
They say love conquers all. But does it really?
Does it?
Really?

The Last Train
One message and one night was enough to turn her life when the train took her for her last ride... In pieces.

Anamika: Alone in the Crowd
Alone I feel the darkness surrounding -
Blend into the background mildly,
Watch the masti on and on,
Make no trouble, make no sound,
Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee,
Feed on the energy, look on in glee,
Keep the aura of silence as my robe
To cloak my hooded figure under the lone lamp-post.

Lost In A Book
"Happiness is getting lost in a good book"
I became a stranger in a new land... Fell in love with a strange man... Found that love could grow in truth... Because heart was what counted not language or group...
And we married against the odds... Had a life to be envied... He gave me the light of our lives, Nur al-Hayah... With her I found a mother in me...
I found how much closer a husband and wife can be... I saw that age mattered nothing... That time would stop still... Before this love across borders, worlds and years....

For Better or Worse?
Sweet words from sweeter lips
No longer suffice,
The ice is growing
Unchecked and wild,
The distance that was physical
Has now turned to the heart,
The joys they shared
Are harder apart,
The freedom both knew
Is striving to let loose,
Chafing at imaginary bounds
Still two weighty rings sits sound,
A marriage on verge of break
What happened to "for better or worse", fate?

You Lost Her
Promised forevers
To end in heartbreak,
Once friend and lover,
Now just memories to fade away.
Everything existed -
The virtual perfect friend.
When came to reality,
The screen just gave in
And you found the hidden
Sorrows and screams,
A banshee was unleashed
Tormenting your every dream.
You saw her finally swept away -
The enveloping arms of another man,
You now see what was thought torment
Had never been true torment until now.

Stay, Stay
His beauty entraps all that is she -
Snared her soul, marked his to keep;
Now silence and breathing in a dark room,
Hands roving, not too soon -
Gentle, asking, modesty kept;
Love, more love, nothing witheld.
The touch now hits core deep -
And rouses a quiet noise,
A sigh of satisfaction that both now finds;
Stay, stay, murmured into her hair
Yes, yes. A million times, yes, the reply said.

I Wish You Wouldn't
I wish you wouldn't.
Tell me those sweet words
In that rough voice
That softens just for me;
Tell me that we'll find a way
To weather this storm
And start our life as one;
Tell me that it's ok,
Tell me it's alright,
That we're far from crazy
For living by faith and not by sight.

Leave taken
I miss the light in your eyes.
It once told me, you are mine.
Now all I see is the cold depth of death.
The leave taken without regret.

Don't Bother to Wait
I have nothing to say.
My fears are not based in stone,
But my trust is quavering at your tone.
Is there something I should know?
And if you want to leave,
Please.
Just go.

Him
He lies as though he is
In the comforting folds of sleep,
But I see his eyes are open
And they wait for eternity.
Heartburn
There is no escape.
When what breaks silence is silence,
And your loudest cries are never heard,
And they come from within :
Where there is ravaging and destruction,
Tears, blood and endless spots
Of blackness undefined
Tinged by a forgotten red of scraped knees,
Wounded heads and more.
Where you find that realisation
That there is no one.
No one to hold out a hand
To say that they understand
When they are in a war of their own.
And one puff of that repulsive smoke
That clears the mind feels like rot in my soul.

The Blackness
I wear a crown
Of shining black thorns,
And revel in a gown
Of black bejewelled nights,
And in my hand, a sceptre bright
Holding the crescent moon alight -
I say, Love me. If you dare.
Or push me away. See if I care.
One hug will not suffice
This thirst you see in my eyes,
One push might kill all
But the one I hold aloft.
And this crescent moon will shine,
From the jaded sceptre I hold -
Lives of sorrow and regret,
For love is not to be told.
Listless
What is it that I find in your eyes?
A longing for some paradise,
A longing for something far, far away,
Or is it a longing that we stay?
I don't know now.
I don't know how.
But the depth in your eyes -
It sears my soul, brands and takes it own.
One piece you left,
No attitude, no heat.
One piece you left,
It is that I keep.
One piece of you,
No pretense, no chitin.
One piece of you,
Mine, no hiding.

Name: Glow of the Moon
I didn't know this when we met
That I'd come to cherish this thought that I get,
A warm smile and a soft side
Like a little sister, rakhi tied.
Something about you I hold so near -
Your nature, ambivert(?), curious and clear,
Yet the right side you know, that's where you stay,
Spreading happiness all along the way,
And with everyone you meet
A flower you leave,
Your garden you make.
Thank you for being here today.
- dedicated to a new special person in my life.

Silence
The reasons are many,
Why I smile upon you.
Love writ clear on my face,
That I find an innocent maze
On your face as well.
Joy profound
At a quiet touch and single sound.
All the world's quiet,
Then there is only you,
This love and us so gloriously true...

Waiting For Vengeance
Well, what is this?
What am I coming to?
And beyond that, what am I gonna do?
Now there's blankness
Where once your eyes held light
But that was so long ago
That was last night.
Well, what was that?
What's that sound I hear?
It's my lifetime
It's whistling past my ear
And when I look back
Everything seems smaller than life
The way it's been for so long
Since last night
Now I'm leaving
Any moment I'll be gone
I think you'll notice
I think you'll wonder what went wrong
I'm not choosing
But I'm running out of fight
And this was decided so long ago
It was last night.
- extract from If I Stay
A Wish - Stay
I wish we had stayed
A moment sooner than late,
So I wouldn't be left wondering
From so far away,
How it'd feel if you
Had held me that way,
If I had felt the brush
Of your lips upon my cheek,
If we could have lingered a moment longer
Silently in our lovers' keep;
I wish we had stayed,
Taken a moment to find out -
When you caught my wrist
And stopped my fall down,
When our eyes met and
For a heartbeat's breadth,
There was only you and me
And our love between us -
Like an infinte sea
Surrounding us both,
Keeping us close;
Something of that sort
Just four months ago,
Was our hands together entwined
Finding the perfect match for life.

Beautiful
Just liked this one, so decided to post it :)
“This life is what you make it. No matter what, you're going to mess up sometimes, it's a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you're going to mess it up. Girls will be your friends - they'll act like it anyway. But just remember, some come, some go. The ones that stay with you through everything - they're your true best friends. Don't let go of them. Also remember, sisters make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they'll come and go too. And baby, I hate to say it, most of them - actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can't give up because if you give up, you'll never find your soulmate. You'll never find that half who makes you whole and that goes for everything. Just because you fail once, doesn't mean you're gonna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don't, then who will, sweetie? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life's a beautiful thing and there's so much to smile about.”
― Marilyn Monroe
I Don't Want To Let Go
I don't want to let go,
I don't want to lose the height
When I finally touched the sky,
I don't want to let go,
Not now, when my dreams are in hold
And my hands are within reach,
I don't want to let go,
I don't want to lose what I just found.
I don't want to let go.

I Withdraw Into Myself...
I withdraw into myself.
I wonder what comes next to the mind.
It's pointless to say the world spins,
When my world is in the paper and as thin.
Next scene comes to my window,
A lady in red against red.
Blood red yet once thrilled me,
Came back again to haunt me,
The vision of marriage in sacred red -
Thrown down, walked over and shred.
Divorce papers are on their way.
Their lawyers talk everyday.
What happened? Stop and think
Where that first misstep came to begin.
I withdraw into myself.
I wonder what comes next to the mind.
It's pointless to say the world exists,
When my world is in the paper in my fist.
Another scene, a flashback of sorts.
The first time trying,
The first cry, the first call.
Never to see Daddy except on weekends
And Mommy was in rehab quite weakened.
Four years old, scenes come crashing,
Moments burning in jealousy at other lives flashing.
Never to feel or see both parents smile,
Not together, not even for a while.
Something between them had died.
I withdraw into myself.
I wonder what comes next to the mind.
It's pointless to say the world mirrors,
For my life is in the paper that can not be mirrored.
Mirrors broken, pieces around.
A fire extinguisher broken, unsound.
The rooftops burning, crashing down.
Teenage release, a pain more easily found -
Easily found, easier to understand
Than the blinding headaches of quarrels overheard.
A need to drop all and run away,
Somehow to find another way.
But what are the ways of escape?
A juvenile prison is better to evade.
I withdraw into myself.
I still see the lady in red,
I still remember her laughing face,
Walking around a fire, a shy embrace,
The new blossomed love that shone so bright,
About which I wish I could write -
But it's pointless to say the world is real,
When all is fake with only the paper real...

Happily Ever After II
..."Oh? It's MY story. I make it and end it as I please."
