ANAMIKA : Some Curious Days

Hiding in the deep,
Time slowing when you speak,
Haunting me while I sleep,
Is it true or is it weak -
Something not meant to be?
Or something as sure as rain,
With thunder and lightning, a break,
All monotony of life seems another game,
Emotion overrides and becomes pure,
That day, it seemed a cure.

Till I saw that other face,
Someone stronger, more beautiful, still fake,
A better game but where I am prey,
Not the victor, not today,
Incessant hope that steamed the heart -
Broken down, crumbled as true iron to rust,
Broken pieces now, lying in the dust,
No more wishing, praying for a second glimpse,
No more asking, no more hints,
That day, it was the cure.

Back to chains and new born games,
Back to counting stars again,
Walking through old memory lanes,
Now one of those forgotten ways,
Where you swear never to tread again -
All vows forgotten that one eve,
Where another sight was burnt to live,
Forever in memories, new to old,
The one sight I chanced to behold,
That day, I was the cure.

A life looked back on now,
Comical to think,
That once there was a fool who believed,
Love is worth more than trusting deep,
That love gave you what you could keep -
A lie beheld, a lie seen through,
No more failing or falling too,
Now trust is kept and love thought blind,
Waiting for the one seemed apt that time,
But that day, I found a cure.

No more waiting or running blind,
Stuck feet in the sand though waves may try,
No more steps into the deep,
Heart can ask, but will mind believe?
Since that day, a cure.

The Fey of Yesterday

Infinite thoughts stream,
Minds wander together in dreams -
I caught a petal yesterday,
It remained fresh till I died today.

This dream showed what is was to be,
A teacher, a student and a parent I believe ;
It is all part of the roles I play,
Though such tears never came my way :

I saw the lost flower in the park,
One bright yellow with a red center part.
It stood alone, caught between stones -
(I wondered, was that me all alone)

And other flowers stood a little way,
Watching, hovering bigger than this little fey,
It seemed after a while,
I floated over my tile ;

A yellow fey with red wings,
Pretty, quite ravishing,
Stood apart from the other feys,
Shunned and shut out more that May,

No expression passed that face,
A mild curiosity was all that laced
That tiny face, a child it seemed,
Underneath delicate exterior, a stone unseen ;

This fey wandered away,
Ignoring the others' calls,
Ignoring the stares and glares,
Ignoring all but for whom she cared ;

I saw the flower again,
Slowly drooping down,
This fey wandered past her,
And made one sound,

A high piercing wail
Of a violin that lost scale,
The flower fell away,
I saw the fey fall dead same way -

All lives I saw,
It whizzed past me again ;
Infinite thoughts stream,
Minds wander together in dreams.

I know which petal I caught that day,
I know why it withered away.

The Tuneless Violin

I cannot be this one you see,
Many facets make this ruby gleam,
Blood runs red through my veins,
Cut it open but blue surface remains -

I am one like you,
Yet so different from the time,
I have a proverbial silver spoon,
Though it's not related to dimes -

Music flows through me,
My fingers make the sound,
Plucking each string of this violin,
I cry unheard, unsound.

The Graveyard Beckons

Simple pleasures of life,
A friend in quiet times,
A book on a rainy day,
By the sea on a summer day,

Time passes so fast,
It's hard when things don't last,
Memories fade to grey,
Love turns ashen faced today,

Everything has a rhyme,
And even if it was not yet time,
When you stand on my grave today,
Cry no tears. I lived my way.

Before The Night Ends

Before the sky turns pale blue,
Before the stars sing the final tune,
Before the moon waves us goodbye,
Before the sun brightens the sky,

I had a few words I'd like to say,
It's not something new I made up today,
It's something I wanted to say for such a long time,
I've fallen in love with you, my quiet dime.

Fallen Petals

This flower grew alone,
One among the millions,
Even if surrounded by stone,
She doesn't care being lone.

Maybe words can cover her,
Mask up her feelings inside,
Maybe words will expose her,
Show all the feelings she hides.

All her hopes and dreams,
Everything torn apart at the seams,
Never one to have believed,
A better day will be lived.

The Boy With Stars In His Eyes

Once there was a light,
A small bright light,
It shone for the boy
With stars in his eyes -

Little did he know,
He had a such a long way to go,
That people coveted him though
He never really got to know -

Things panned out,
It seemed make-believe,
He started finding out
Things weren't what it seemed -

He went away a while,
To hide and gain respite,
But he found more,
Somethings he had been looking for -

He wasn't sure of his desire,
He wasn't sure of the need,
How does one choose?
Reality or his heart on his sleeve -

Where will he go?
And where will he reach?
This puzzle so nearly complete,
Somewhere good and somewhere
Back to his place with the stars.
