As if I fell from the sky
Just yesterday,
Everything all bright and gay
Life's wonders
All new to me.
But oh no! My eyes!
They deceived me...
Dreams I have
Of running from this safety
But all the while
Forced to return
To this prison of reality.

More Than Just Friends
It's not like I want you Everyday of my life, It's not like I'm drowning In the depth of your eyes. But I like it, somehow, Caught right here, I like the way it feels When I know you're near. Into this friendship Goes a lot of love and care, Won't cross any boundaries But we know it's there. Not like lovers But not 'just' friends - Who knows, maybe we'll be Best friends till the end. |
I Miss You
I missed you today
But that's nothing new,
Change has come,
And it changed me too.
Now I try
To hold on to our past,
Then realize soon
It's time to let it pass.
But that's nothing new,
Change has come,
And it changed me too.
Now I try
To hold on to our past,
Then realize soon
It's time to let it pass.

Lines of Ivy
Here we are
Lost in our stories
Trying to find more
Than just happy endings?
We believe, we trust
We become the fools
Then it's blown out like lust
We're not their tools
Lines are drawn
No one enters, no one leaves
Till the ivy's grown
No one enters, no one leaves
It's like an old story
When we meet again
Broken trust, details are gory
Again? Are we insane?
Lines should be drawn
No one enters, no one leaves
Till the ivy's grown
No one enters, no one leaves
Past is past
Our future's now
Will it last?
Hope that sown seeds grow
But till then we draw the lines
Hide our hearts
Escape the pain
Time will soon erase
We drew our lines
So no one entered, no one left
But ivy was not enough
People entered, people left
But most important to me
You entered...
But you left.
Lost in our stories
Trying to find more
Than just happy endings?
We believe, we trust
We become the fools
Then it's blown out like lust
We're not their tools
Lines are drawn

My Something
There are times I think
It’s all done for,
This is the end
There can be nothing more;
But Something keeps me going,
Something of which I am sure,
Though I do not know this Something,
It is Something which is my cure...
Some things are just meant to be,
This I've learnt for sure;
But I still wish that it'd be perfect,
Then again, this may be just a lure...
Temptations are many
And I definitely give in to few,
But these are mixed opportunities
They are far too good to lose...
I could keep going on
But Something tells me to stop,
This is the Something
That tells me
Dusk will change to dawn...
My Something is my true guide,
My Something keeps me alive;
My Something gives me purpose.
The whole reason why I have life...
Some call this a God,
Others call it a Force,
I call it my Something
My Something good, damn sure!
It’s all done for,
This is the end
There can be nothing more;
But Something keeps me going,
Something of which I am sure,
Though I do not know this Something,
It is Something which is my cure...
Some things are just meant to be,
This I've learnt for sure;
But I still wish that it'd be perfect,

Phone Call
She waits by the phone
Just for one call,
It's already eight.
She plays with a ball,
Entertains her child -
A toddler who doesn't know,
He's not old enough yet
To notice in her eyes, a low.
Eight thirty strikes,
Another anxious look;
The clock ticks on,
Another glance at the nook -
Where is he?
A rise of anxiety.
Such is her life,
And finally, the fateful ring.
She runs to answer -
Two words, 'My love';
A reply of soft reproach,
'I missed you'.
And it goes on.
Such is her life,
And such is his;
Torn apart yet woven strong,
Revolving around that one call.
Hope it's just for now.
Just for one call,
It's already eight.
She plays with a ball,
Entertains her child -
A toddler who doesn't know,
He's not old enough yet
To notice in her eyes, a low.

Time To Choose
| 'You are free to be anything, Your life's your own, There's nothing you can't be, All you need is the soul.' I've heard this so many times, Repetitions are not so rare. Hearing this doesn't help, Even though I don't really care. You're writing my story, Though you tell me to write my own. Even my thoughts are not completely mine, But my feelings are my own. Gods don't need to help, I can find my own way. I might get stuck in the dark, But that's just something to say. I should get an oscar, For all the acting I do; And it's not just me you see, There are others the same way too. We're caught in the intersection, There are so many paths we can choose - But I want to make my own, So please don't tell me what to do. Let us make mistakes, Let us learn by our hand, Even if it is just to prove To ourselves that we can. |

For You ( Always, Always)
Lullabies you sing for me
I hold you tight and sleep
Mother, for everything you've done
For me, for everyone -
Let heavens sing to you
And I'll watch you sleep.
Guidance, protection
The trust I put in you
Father, for your affection
For me, for everyone -
Let the stars guide you to them
And I watch you become one of them.
For teaching me what to be,
My teachers...
For loving me when I never deserved,
My friends...
For the support I could always count on,
My family...
One thank you is not enough
Even what's so heartfelt as this one
Always, always...
I pray let it rain on you,
Wash clean your mind,
Let free your souls,
Like early morning, spring anew.
Strong minds and passionate hearts
Always, always
There is this in my heart -
I thank you.
I hold you tight and sleep
Mother, for everything you've done
For me, for everyone -
Let heavens sing to you
And I'll watch you sleep.
Guidance, protection
The trust I put in you
Father, for your affection
For me, for everyone -
Let the stars guide you to them
And I watch you become one of them.

Gone
I'm waiting for you
I'm still waiting
Will you come back?
Or are you still leaving?
Is this going to last much longer?
Is our bond about to break?
Cruel, cruel world
Cruel, cruel fate.
My final tears
As I see you burn up
Wipe it away
Knowing there's nothing left.
Ashes thrown to the wind,
You blew away.
Will I find you among the stars?
I can only hope.
I can only pray.
I'm still waiting
Will you come back?
Or are you still leaving?
Is this going to last much longer?
Is our bond about to break?
Cruel, cruel world
Cruel, cruel fate.
My final tears
As I see you burn up
Wipe it away
Knowing there's nothing left.
Ashes thrown to the wind,
You blew away.
Will I find you among the stars?
I can only hope.
I can only pray.

Unsaid
She's giving herself
But he never sees
So invisible she becomes
Invisible she leaves
He dreams of her
Once in a while
Thinks she's pretty
But just for a while
She wonders if
He'll ever think
See her as more
Than a friend in ink
He does write to her
Says, 'Love you my friend'
Hopes she'll say, 'I love you too'
That together they can mend?
They part on good terms
though unsatisfied
The little things were said
But big things lurk inside
Unsaid
Years later
They meet again
Married? no
Still waiting for that 'One'
They say
That chance encounter
Led to more
In success and good health
But big things lurk inside
Unsaid
Drifted apart again
With little things always said
But love untold
The big things left unsaid
One day again
(Even fate tries its hand)
They begin to talk
Find some memories lost
Childhood mischief
Teenagers' loss
Adulthood travails
Yet no love?
'There was but...'
'But? Now? '
'It's dead and gone'
'Sorry for your loss'
That was the last time
They were twenty five
They moved on but still
Looked back on their lives
Could they have made a difference?
Was it a little thing missed out?
Was it big things that were said
And little ones that lurked
Inside. Unsaid.
But he never sees
So invisible she becomes
Invisible she leaves
He dreams of her
Once in a while
Thinks she's pretty
But just for a while

What You Are To Me
Feathers fall
Like the rain
Pillow fights
Are never the same
Bright blue eyes
You stare at me
Waiting to jump
As if you don't know me
Child, don't you know
That we are one?
And will be so
Till time is done?
You are part of me
Wild and bright
Sudden sadness -
Have I been right?
Soon enough
You will have to leave
Be stronger than now
More beautiful to see
Now yet we have
Our pillow fights
For a few more years
I will hold you tight...
Still I'll let you be
All might and rights
Oh my child,
What you are to me.
Like the rain
Pillow fights
Are never the same
Bright blue eyes
You stare at me
Waiting to jump
As if you don't know me
Child, don't you know
That we are one?
And will be so
Till time is done?
You are part of me
Wild and bright
Sudden sadness -
Have I been right?
Soon enough
You will have to leave
Be stronger than now
More beautiful to see
Now yet we have
Our pillow fights
For a few more years
I will hold you tight...
Still I'll let you be
All might and rights
Oh my child,
What you are to me.
Red Rose
Blushing slowly,
Unfurling gently,
Whisper soft,
Soon she grows.
Suitors come,
One by one,
For age has marked her,
The glory of blood red.
Experience hardens,
Makes self protective,
Green thorns strengthen,
Let few get to her.
With age, beautiful exterior falls away
But the brown thorns remain
Even if sweet flower withers away...
Unfurling gently,
Whisper soft,
Soon she grows.
Suitors come,
One by one,
For age has marked her,
The glory of blood red.
Experience hardens,
Makes self protective,

Entry Of A Twelfth Grader
I don't see why
We are made to be this way.
Put in a pressure cooker.
Pour in the oil, the stress
The devastating terminal tests
And the spice to it,
The exaltated tution centres.
Seriously,
Who are they trying to kidd?
It's infinite -
An unending vicious cycle
Of all sorts of people.
Still, no one dares to break it
Its LIVES at stake here -
Future engineers and doctors,
Teachers and preachers,
Throw in a scientist, an architect or two,
Some chartered accountants and media personnel,
Maybe even civil service and military.
Sad. The list doesn't end there.
Just like parents and their unending hopes.
Sometimes,
They let themselves get away with it.
Students make their own choice
Unbidden by their expectant guardians.
Then... Net result?
Ruckus at school.
Calamities at home.
And if you're really, REALLY lucky...
Silence. Peace and quiet.
Or it might be ANOTHER silence...
Ahem, ahem.
Finally,
After all the swotting and groaning,
Making tables and charts,
Drawing figures, writing derivations,
Equations and more sums,
Which, by the way,
Is just a HUGE PROBLEM...
And don't forget the theories,
The accountancy, statistics and sociology,
The endless abundance of books and papers,
And a significant lack of interest.
Why do we even bother?
Oh yeah, future depends on this people!
The EXAM of our lives
Where we make it or FAIL it
Or manage to copy-paste-pass it
Admire the teamwork here please.
All of you,
Cause that takes brainwork too.
And the exams are done.
Over, yet not forgotten.
Waiting, torturous and long.
The results deliver the final word.
Yay or nay?
If you're lucky,
We'll cheer!
If you're not...
Just quietly disappear.
This is the entry of a twelfth grader.
Make of it what you will.
It's not a secret what I said,
You know it as well as I -
But I just had to say it,
For my own peace of mind.
