Seasons Of Time

A time to love,
A time to cry ;
A time to change,
A time to fly.

There is no true prediction -
What is time?
A concept of passage,
Of days and nights.

Mothers see -
Their little child,
Grow up fast,
Age, then die.

They play, they laugh,
In spring, they little know ;
Under mother's watching eyes,
They soon grow.

They learn the concept,
They learn the change,
Maybe sometimes late,
Or ahead of the game.

Settled down, figured out,
Plans made or found,
They think time now slows -
But it's autumn now.

Spring passed in a blur,
Summer came and went,
Their autumn shows now, signs
Of winter ahead.

Little by little,
They see drastic change -
No more, mother's eye ;
No more, it's passed by.

Their time comes too,
Their winter peak,
Sometimes with roots to show.
Even if not, someone speaks.

The final goodbye,
The wheel from zero, turned
A full circle till nine -
The seasons of time.

The Snowglobe

Fairylands don't exist,
You look at pictures and you wish
If you had wings, you could fly away,
Catch a fairy, make your day;

But nothing's what it seems to be,
A star or even this galaxy,
There is no beginning and no end,
Time is stuck and we are unpenned.

My life in unwritten as of yet,
My book is blank and pen's still wet,
My heart is gone and body remains,
Frantic headaches and startling pains.

Sleep forever, my dear friend,
Its the answer we come to at end;
And I am, my dear friend,
Always held close-

Trapped in a pretty magical snow globe,
It snows and snows and it's pretty from outside.
But you don't know the cold inside.

You don't know. The cold inside.

Thunder

Clouds rumble overhead,
Thunder is loud,
The rain starts pouring,
As my tears too fall.

I stare up at the night sky.
Clouded in glory.
Wondering - why
You are doing this to me?

Realization strikes clear
With the next thunder I hear.
I'm not what you want -
Lightning strikes my heart.

I fix the smile firm upon my face,
Changing my mindset's not new to the day,
I will be what you want
As I am to others.

I wished for more, had a goal
But was a fool to ever think so.

To Valentine

You are more to me than you'll ever know
My onetime love, onetime soul
Now my best friend for as much as long
You're more than you think you'll ever know.

Face so sweet, smile endearing
A selfless heart and care and thinking
That you don't deserve much when you really do
I say I know because I see you.

There is more to your life and the person you are
You're not your mistakes or mishaps, after all
These don't make you, the one you are
Beautiful, dark - that mind so fond.

If I had one wish for you today,
Not just because it's Valentine's day,
I'd wish you'd have my eyes to see
Just how beautiful you are to me.

Words fail me, I am unable to express
That gratitude, the feelings, the emotion like this
That is why that is my wish for you
For you to see you, in the light you hold true.

And finally, three words.
I love you.

From Above

Dust in your eyes,
Cotton in your ears,
Thorns on your hands,
While roots hold you dear.

Soul rests in heavens,
High above my sea,
Where you never see
What your love means to me.

It's not new,
This craving for you,
This love that blossoms
Like a rose forever in bloom.

Its simply this,
My lover of dark,
My shadow in light,
My calm in the storm-

I loved you, I love you,
Forever in my wretched soul.

Life In The 21st Century

This was one of my assignments for class : A poetic reply to Matthew Arnold about how I see life in the 21st century.

To Mr. Matthew Arnold

Subject : Life in the 21st Century

Respected Sir,

Impossibilities in my head,
Rushing streams, storms ahead,
Clouds up high and waves beyond,
Finding somewhere I can call home.

All places at a touch and a blink,
People too, to talk and think.
Science and faith, compromise or no?
Things wont settle, stress and foes.

Elusive chasing, Time is cash,
Things are loved, Hearts are smashed,
Nothing and no place out of reach,
No dreams exist except on screens ;

People are not people, self-centered machines,
Humanity at a loss,
Religion at an extreme,
Times are changing, hard and fast -

This looks like my 21st century.
The Future At Last

Yours sincerely,
An admirer.

My Love

Quiet.
Watching eyes.
Gentle eyes.
Sweet smile.

Not mine.
But not mine.
Just... Not mine.

Tousled hair.
Low bass voice.
Listening.
Waiting.

Not mine.
But not mine.
Just... Not mine.

Helpful, kind.
You're everywhere
And everyone's...
But mine.

Watching, waiting,
Never questioning,
Never asking,
Will you be?

But no.
It's a no.
You're never to be -
Mine.

ANAMIKA : I Don't Write

What is it I lost?
Ages of communication,
Complexities so trivial?
The distractions everywhere.

I don't write -
There is nothing in me.
I don't write -
There are no feelings,
No real self.
Love longed for,
Love lost,
Eternal searching
For something that's wrong.

I don't write -
There is so much :
Beauty,
Nova,
Emotions,
Situations,
It doesn't affect me.

I don't write -
I don't have to.
Why should I?
Is it a hiding from reality,
Or hiding from life?
I wrote into my mistake -
I stopped to get out ;
I don't write anymore.

I lost myself in false glory.
I had everything ,
But it was my fancy.
Its not real. Not anymore.
How terrible it is to love
One whom death can touch.
It's not real.
But there is escape.
I've dreamed enough.
I don't write. Open dreams.
Its time to take flight.
Into something unseen.

Unnamed - A Chemistry Class

Beg, plead
I cry for sleep
In a classroom
On a Chemical Eve

The monotony
Of Chemistry of Surfaces
Teacher, no offence
But its just too hot for this!

After surviving the blazing sun
In the morning assembly
Healthily cooking
The travesty of tans and suns...

Now to face another misery
Why can't they just
Let us be?
Disasters of lines and making

I wonder,
Is this all really necessary?

Why Does This Happen...

Why does this happen?
I fell for my best friend.
The hardest thing to accept
Is that I won't see her again.

The small smile and sudden laughter,
The soft words and quick anger,
The silent muses and her special nature.
I'll miss it all and her.

I decided too late
Was it fate?!
I called her name
But she chose another game.

Heart-broken for certain,
But love should fade,
Even when you feel it strong-
As strong as a thousand suns.

My Friend

What's a friend?
You never know -
He glows in the dark
Amidst your shadows.
He helps you up,
Never says no ;
Gives you light,
Shares your sorrow ;
Doubles your joy,
Coming in endless flights,
With wings of light -
Your one and only,
Your true friend.
