Where are you?

Where are you? When I'm calling to home and when I'm alone on the floor.

Where are you? When the fog isn't clearing and the river is nearby, and I don't know how to swim.

Where are you? When the sun is setting and I'm looking around for the hand I used to hold.

Where are you? When the magic of rain doesn't hold any magic for me anymore...

Where are you?
Behind me and around me,
encompassing me in fluid desire to name
this person as a home where I can stay
without fear, without restraint,
where I may sleep held safely
in a boat of your arms and body
and beautiful golden brown eyes
shining, lighting the path ahead
not alone.

A reply to your question

You asked why I said yes to you.
Why when I don't know.
I don't know how the sky turns grey
From bright blue at the arrival
Of a winter storm, but its beauty
Takes my breath away.
I don't know how the waves come
Again and again and again till
The shore is all worn out but
Is still there, just under the water.
Why when I don't know how
You can see me and smile apne aap,
And call me beautiful and turn me
Into melted bones and warm sharir,
And how all my flaws are not flaws
In your eyes where they are just accepted
As another part of me deserving love.
Why when I see you everyday and find
Humour, courage, sympathy and kindness
And so much love for humanity reflected
At almost every soul you come across,
And how you find happiness in even the
Smallest of things that many have forgotten
To do, and how you tell me pyaar karta hu.

I said yes before I discovered all these because
I suppose my heart knew before
My mind found out that I love you
Like you love, long before we knew.

Lost In A Book

"Happiness is getting lost in a good book"

I became a stranger in a new land... Fell in love with a strange man... Found that love could grow in truth... Because heart was what counted not language or group...
And we married against the odds... Had a life to be envied... He gave me the light of our lives, Nur al-Hayah... With her I found a mother in me...
I found how much closer a husband and wife can be... I saw that age mattered nothing... That time would stop still... Before this love across borders, worlds and years....
