Life In The 21st Century

This was one of my assignments for class : A poetic reply to Matthew Arnold about how I see life in the 21st century.

To Mr. Matthew Arnold

Subject : Life in the 21st Century

Respected Sir,

Impossibilities in my head,
Rushing streams, storms ahead,
Clouds up high and waves beyond,
Finding somewhere I can call home.

All places at a touch and a blink,
People too, to talk and think.
Science and faith, compromise or no?
Things wont settle, stress and foes.

Elusive chasing, Time is cash,
Things are loved, Hearts are smashed,
Nothing and no place out of reach,
No dreams exist except on screens ;

People are not people, self-centered machines,
Humanity at a loss,
Religion at an extreme,
Times are changing, hard and fast -

This looks like my 21st century.
The Future At Last

Yours sincerely,
An admirer.
