Entry Of A Twelfth Grader

I don't see why
We are made to be this way.
Put in a pressure cooker.
Pour in the oil, the stress
The devastating terminal tests
And the spice to it,
The exaltated tution centres.

Seriously,
Who are they trying to kidd?

It's infinite -
An unending vicious cycle
Of all sorts of people.

Still, no one dares to break it
Its LIVES at stake here -
Future engineers and doctors,
Teachers and preachers,
Throw in a scientist, an architect or two,
Some chartered accountants and media personnel,
Maybe even civil service and military.

Sad. The list doesn't end there.
Just like parents and their unending hopes.

Sometimes,
They let themselves get away with it.
Students make their own choice
Unbidden by their expectant guardians.
Then... Net result?

Ruckus at school.
Calamities at home.
And if you're really, REALLY lucky...
Silence. Peace and quiet.

Or it might be ANOTHER silence...
Ahem, ahem.

Finally,
After all the swotting and groaning,
Making tables and charts,
Drawing figures, writing derivations,
Equations and more sums,
Which, by the way,
Is just a HUGE PROBLEM...

And don't forget the theories,
The accountancy, statistics and sociology,
The endless abundance of books and papers,
And a significant lack of interest.

Why do we even bother?
Oh yeah, future depends on this people!
The EXAM of our lives
Where we make it or FAIL it
Or manage to copy-paste-pass it

Admire the teamwork here please.
All of you,
Cause that takes brainwork too.

And the exams are done.
Over, yet not forgotten.
Waiting, torturous and long.
The results deliver the final word.
Yay or nay?

If you're lucky,
We'll cheer!
If you're not...
Just quietly disappear.

This is the entry of a twelfth grader.
Make of it what you will.
It's not a secret what I said,
You know it as well as I -
But I just had to say it,
For my own peace of mind.
