Slumber

In midst of sleep,
In a beautiful dream,
Where wildflowers grew
And stars shone true,

I walked barefoot on sand
Water lapping at my feet,
Sounds of laughter floating by,
I crossed some rocks to be at your side,

You had these red wings
And a strong light from within,
You held me briefly within strong arms,
Gave me respite from the darkness around,

Fear still overwhelmed me
I was afraid,
That the beauty you now show me
I might lose someday,

So slowly it dawned on me,
To grow my own wings ,
To learn to fly out on a limb,
To share with you the glorious sky.
