Cancer

I dream -
Of finding content in a blue sky,
Of dancing when the clouds cry,
Of climbing so many hills,
Of finding love's thrill.

I wait -
For seeing a colour I have never seen,
For smelling the wet soil damp against my skin,
For feeling the hard rock of mountains high,
For knowing there is one I will always stand by.

Yet I know -
My eyes will never see,
My nose will never smell,
My skin will never feel,
And my heart will never know.

Because -
This is the room
I have come to dread,
And this is the bed
Which is welcoming my end.

Bleeding Ink

Words to capture
The countenance of a million souls.
Her soul bled black ink
Which spilled all over the globe.
Her eyes never left the darkness
And darkness never left her soul.
It pulled her like flames pull moths.
Brightly coloured but flying in the night,
Hidden to all but the knowing eyes.
The eyes which wait glimmering,
Like the black jade shining in her heart.
The coldness which few feel.
The rest are left warm.
