Raped.

Ages have passed hence
Where you once saw beauty
Is now torn down again, again
The poor, hapless wench.

There was this candle
A flame -
Snuffed out now, for eternity
By their game.

Worthless fools!
You are no man!
A coldblooded murder
A thrill killer

Taking what is not yours
Taking her charm, her life, her all
Another candle snuffed
Another flame dead.

Sbe was a toddler!
She was a mother!
She was a daughter!
She was an old lady!

One. Two. Three. Four.
Candles die, no more light.
Have you no shame people?!
These brutes just walk away!

Why is there no justice?
Just a lot of noise even today.
When will we be free
To walk again as one?

Mother India, why now?
Her 64th day of republic in tears.
Memories carried over
But memories fade.

Their lives gone forever.
They only had yesterdays.

Belated Happy Republic Day.

Memories Carried Over

2012 Ends. 2013 Starts.

Have they no shame? Have they no conscience? Are they just no better than wild beasts?!

No I take that back. Animals don't exactly "rape" the female of their species.

How many cases of rape have India forgot and will soon forget? The one of the 23year old medical student caught world acclaim. The painful and lingering case of Aruna Shanbaug, the Mumbai nurse who as victimised by a janitor of the hospital she worked in.

How "wonderful" it feels to be an Indian right now. How "safe" to be an Indian woman now.

And about India.

TrustLaw, a news service run by Thomson Reuters, has ranked India as the worst G20 country in which to be a woman. This in the country where the leader of the ruling party, the speaker of the lower house of parliament, at least three chief ministers, and a number of sports and business icons are women. It is also a country where a generation of newly empowered young women are going out to work in larger numbers than ever before.

Yet, here we are reading in our leading newspapers and journals about the increasing crimes against women.

On most days, Indian newspapers report shocking new atrocities - a 10-month-old raped by a neighbour in Delhi; an 18-month-old raped and abandoned on the streets in Calcutta; a 14-year-old raped and murdered in a police station in Uttar Pradesh; a husband facilitating his own wife's gang rape in Howrah; a 65-year-old grandmother raped in Kharagpur.
But in a country where a rape is reported every 21 minutes, even these most horrific of crimes soon get forgotten - except by the victims and their families.
They are left to fight their long lonely battles for justice which, more often than not, is denied to themTaken from BBC Newsreport (29/12/2012)
Why are Indian women subject to this violent and vindictive treatment? And a bigger question - WHY are the victims looked upon to receive the blame by being accused of "provoking" the rape, rather than the perpetrators of this heinous crime? Why is locking women up the first looked upon option than strict action against these rapists?
Do we forget what the Mahatma told us? Do we forget our solemn pledge? That India is my country. All Indians are my brothers and sisters. I love my country and I am proud of its rich and varied heritage.
India maybe your country but what is the point if your country wont give you the basic protection it is sworn to give? ... Brothers and sisters - apparently dead and forgotten. ... And I doubt the love the citizens have for their country right now owing to the circumstances where it is now utterly shameful to be a part of it. Because the "rich and varied heritage" we are making in our 20th and 21st century for our predecessors are successive stories of humiliating, degenerating and not-dealt-with crime. Not just against women either.

As sad as I feel about the condition of the country who has the resources to get to top - yet only to get pulled down every time something starts going right.
I welcome the new year with the black dot.

Tears fall for you sister.
Tears fall for us.
Candles are lit,
Words are struck -
But no one is just.
I wish you had lived sister.
I wish you got the chance.
To raise your voice,
To tell the men -
You are not for sating lust.
Indians, brothers, sisters -
Who are we among this?
Nothings and no ones it seems
For candles are lit,
And words are struck.
But no time to get justice for us.

Happy New Year people.
