Dark Depths

Delving into the recesses of the mind,
Somewhere the lost cause resides,
Ugly and crumpled as a paper -
Thin and not vivacious in scenes;

A hidden fragility behind the smiles,
Behind the strengths that make the mask
Of beauty, of soundness, of wisdom,
Of resolve, of courage, but torn down,

Pulled apart by a turbulent flow -
Life has caught you in its relentless tide;
The ebb that is just another lie,
For high is all you find;

For that is from where you fall,
Thrown up and flung down -
The odd leaf out, blown.

Times like this I wonder
What made you come up to me
What spurred up that first "hi"
What brought me home to you

All I know now is love
For I close my eyes to see
Your beautiful face envisioned
Your voice haunting my mind

It took so much time
For us to finally see
That it's you, it's me, it's us
We are meant to be

I don't believe in religions
Or a multitude of gods
But fates and nature
Please don't be cruel
For you are the one I love.
